For travel, zoo, and other out and about shooting, I’d take the 24-120 any day of the week - the extra range is definitely more useful than the extra stop when you’ve got sunlight to work with. The 24-70 f/2.8 (and by extension the 28-75 f/2.8) is a surprisingly specialized lens.

It's way too bulky and the 24-70 f4 S is much sharper, smaller and has silent focus for things like video. Though I might consider the 24-85mm VR if you still want to stay with a compact F-mount zoom and stay cross mount compatible.
Conclusion. The new NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR lens is surprisingly capable lens that delivers excellent image quality in most of cases. I purchased it after some initial reviews about its sharpness, silent focus, size and weight. It did not disappoint. If you shoot a lot at 50, it’s an awesome lens. If you aren’t shooting at 50 or don’t have to have the f1.8 aperture, the 24-120 can cover the same uses but at f4. We haven’t used the 24-200, but ultimately we weren’t impressed enough by what we did find to go that route over the 24-120. 7. Schwermzilla.

They recently released that 10-20 UWA zoom, and that 100-300 f2.8 (although Nikon does have an F mount 120-300 f2.8 which is also great), and now this 24-105 f2.8. Of course they also have that 28-70 f2 as well. So Canon shooters definitely have some very unique lenses to use.
