issue with the auto gearbox. I'm having an issue with the auto gearbox, some changes up/down are not that smooth. When changing gears (automatically and manually), just before the gear changes the engine revs gets up (in exaggerated way) and only than the gear changes. (it happens mostly between 3rd and 4th gear). Car has done 150k in 5 years.

Re: Discovery 4 transmission noise. Every now and then, when accelerating very slowly on a level, tar surface, going through 20-25 km/h, I hear a 2 - 3 small thuds sounds that seem to come from the transmission. The closest sound it resembles is though one has driven over 2 -3 cat's eyes on the road.

Other things to check could be, the transmission temperature sensor, battery, brake light bulbs (not likely), and brake light switch (not likely). You need to have the fault codes read on it to start. Turn off the engine. Select P if auto, and apply the foot brake. Push and hold EPB switch/lever down.
It happened once before- about 7months ago. But at that time it was just enough to switch off the engine, take off the carkeys, put the car keys back again and start the engine, and the problem was gone. But yesterday it happened again, taking the car key from ignition didn’t help either. Did the car diagnostic, and a bunch of fault codes

The replacement cost of a neutral safety switch is anywhere from $200 to $350. The parts cost will be around $50 while the labor costs will be between $150 and $300. I have spoken to a couple of gearbox specialists today and from the symptoms that I have described to them which are. 1) noisy transmission 2) vibrations when accelerating or driving uphill 3) slight rise and fall of revs as if the transmission is slipping. they have told me it is the torque convertor that is at fault as the clutch inside it is

Forum Rules. I need some help with a vibration problem that has occurred on my Disco3 tdv6; I started to notice a strong vibration on the freeway and thought that it might have been a brake binding on as there was a hot brake smell coming from one of the rear wheels. I took it into a local Landy independent, who ruled out the brake idea.

TDV6 Gearbox Issue. Forumites I have an occasional fault on my Gearbox, it goes into transmission fault when shifting from 4 to 5 when under load or going up hill. It has happened 3 times this month. Dr tranny fix. Andy the best is to do the oil when gearbox is cold and no dont leave engine running .Remove oil level plug when vehicle is parked at angle like you did and fill Dr Tranny . My guess is that you lost a bit of oil so you need to check your level if the box is short of oil it will shudder even more. 2016/06/26, 12:31 PM #3.
Stage 2 - Get the box Megaflushed and change either the whole Radiator (About £250 for the Rad) or install a separate Autobox Oil Cooler (About £120) This will stop further contamination. Stage 3 - your fluid is so contaminated, it has damaged the Torque Converter in the AutoBox. You need to have the gearbox removed and a refurbished Torque
2. Rough Idling. Rough idling is another common symptom of a bad torque converter. If you feel that your idle is a bit jumpy and sometimes too low and sometimes too high, it could be a torque converter problem. If the torque converter is faulty, it might create unexpected pressures inside the torque converter, which can cause rough idling.
It's a sport. But I figured this is the place to post. Well maintained vehicle, fluid change in gearbox and diffs at 110kms. Now at 150kms. Pretty much all highway driving. The car is smooth. The only thing I can think of is some suspension bushes and ball joints might need to be replaced soon. I had LCAs done at 80kms. I have this noise I feel
